GRE Calculator is designed specifically for students preparing to take the GRE exam. It provides a practice calculator that closely resembles the one used during the Quantitative section of the exam. By adhering to the same operational restrictions, GRE Calculator offers a realistic experience for test preparation.

Here are some of the rules enforced by the official on-screen calculator during a GRE exam, which GRE Calculator faithfully follows:

<ol>
 <li>No exponent notations are permitted.</li>
 <li>Parentheses can only be used up to a single degree; nested parentheses are not allowed.</li>
 <li>Any number with an absolute value larger than 99,999,999 is replaced by the display phrase "Error".</li>
 <li>The calculator screen shows a maximum of 8 digits at any given time, with rounding applied as needed.</li>
 <li>If any computation results in a mathematically undefined value, an "Error" message is displayed.</li>
 <li>Memory functions are limited to MR, M+, and MC.</li>
 <li>Complex numbers cannot be entered or processed.</li>
 <li>The calculator follows the proper mathematical 'order of operations', ensuring correct results. For example, in the calculation 8 + 5 x 3, the answer would be 23, not 39.</li>

In addition to faithfully adhering to these rules, GRE Calculator also offers a style called 'GRE Exam Style', which mimics the appearance of the calculator used in the actual GRE exam. This enhances the realism of the practice experience for all students using GRE Calculator.
